To Our South and Central Texas Friends:
The Texas Organ Sharing Alliance represents one of only 58 federally-designated organ procurement organizations in the United States.
Our pledge to the 56 counties we serve in South and Central Texas is to increase donation and transplantation awareness. Our challenge is to offer the more than 98,000 individuals on united network for organ sharing (OPOs) wait list for organs that life-saving opportunity of receiving the “Gift of Life.” Organ donation is the only altruistic gift someone can give to another human being.
As the critical link between donation and transplantation, we at the Texas Organ Sharing Alliance are committed to providing family members an opportunity to allow their loved ones to become an organ and tissue donor. For without the next-of-kin’s consent—the “Gift of Life” would not be possible.
In closing, we reflect on the more than 50 years of transplantation and honor all our South and Central Texas donors and family members who made a precious contribution to someone’s life—and commit to efforts of encouraging others to take the necessary steps for committing to donation in Texas.
Sincerely,
Patrick J. Giordano, MHA, LFACHE
