Creating a Donation Friendly America program

Over 10,000 companies nationwide are participating in the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services “Workplace Partnership for Life”—creating a donation friendly America initiative. The program’s objective is to encourage higher levels of life-saving organ donation by Americans.

Together the Texas Organ Sharing Alliance and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services invite businesses to create a nationwide network of employers offering personnel the information, support and opportunity to donate life. Participating companies respond by sending informational e-mail messages; holding brown-bag seminars featuring an employee with a donor or transplant connection; sending a letter of support from their CEO; and others highlight current donor information by utilizing their company newsletter and Web site.

As a participant in the program, companies are offered free posters, brochures, paycheck stuffers, or other materials for their employees. And with advance notice, TOSA can provide trained speakers (usually a recipient, donor family member, or staff member) who can present on various topics. Recognizing the diversity among employers and worksites, we encourage companies to identify for themselves the specific activities and strategies which they will implement to increase donation.

Contributing to our community is an important value to the business community. That’s why we continue to reach out in an effort to increase the number of participating companies encouraging higher levels of life-saving organ donation by Americans.
